In the process of another project, I decided I “needed” a No. 4 smoothing plane. Really, I was hoping to avoid a bunch of sanding. Tuning a mid-priced plane seemed to take too long, and buying a high-end plane would be too tough to talk the wife into. I bought this one off eBay and restored it for a fraction the cost of a new Lie Nielsen and I’m tickled it came out so well.
